a favorite ornament from our tree (circa 1940s)
As I have mentioned on any number of occasions Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love this festive time of year and all that it truly represents. One of my favorite Christmas songs is My Favorite Things. I especially love Tony Bennett's version and play it all day long. My husband and I have an ongoing debate as to whether it's Christmas song at all...but that's another story and I know I'm right.
In the spirit of the season I will be sharing with you the favorite things of some of my favorite people over the next few weeks. Enjoy!
I love the Tony Bennett version. I have it categorized under "holiday" on my iTunes/iPod.
ReplyDeleteGood to know...check one for me :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Husband says:
ReplyDeleteOK, so if everyone is going to agree with Miss "All The Best" that My Favorite Things is a Christmas Song, then I should not expect to hear it blaring on the stereo in the middle of June, July, August or any other 'seasonally inappropriate' month?
Unless, of course, we are talking about the John Coltrane version (my preferred version). Coltrane's version is one of 'my favourite things' just about anytime.
Can't married couples 'bicker' about the silliest things? ;-)
The Husband also adds:
ReplyDeleteIt just occurred to me that we used to have the same argument about George Michael’s “This Christmas”, which was “All The Best’s” favourite Christmas song in 1988 (when we started dating). I said it really wasn’t a Christmas song either. I lost that one too, I think. Good to know there is something consistent in our relationship after so many years!
I agree with All the Best (my mom) it is a Christmas song!
ReplyDeleteI love Tony Bennett, great blog!
ReplyDeleteFun visiting you ...
Christmas is also my favorite season of the year. I love vintage ornaments. Thank you for sharing your favorite! I have records of Tony Bennet that I love to play.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alkemie...glad there are other Tony Bennett fans out there!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a song for all seasons, but feels especially right at Christmas. I too love the Coltrane version--year round!
ReplyDeleteVery diplomatic answer Brilliant Asylum—is your profession conflict resolution ;-)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful time in NY!!!
All best,
Ronda
