The Desk of Amy Fine Collins
The Desk of Charlotte Moss
When your home is the office, how do you balance your work life and your personal life? How do you keep everyone happy and most of all, yourself? I must admit that I find working from home very challenging. That said, I would not trade this opportunity for the world. Each day I feel very blessed to sit in front of my computer and write. Starting this blog was truly a godsend and has opened so many new doors.
I have spent the last few days dreaming, mapping out my goals and looking at various ways of becoming more organized (a challenge), whilst taking on new projects. For the time being, I am going to try blogging on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. I have found a few good books that I am looking forward to reading this summer: When Organizing Isn't Enough; The Practicing Mind: Bringing Discipline and Focus Into Your Life; Order from Chaos; Talent Is Overrated: What Really Separates World-Class Performers from Everybody Else, and I stumbled upon a fabulous website See Jane Work (a great excuse for shopping). As always, I would love to hear your best tip or suggestion.
thanks.
ReplyDeleteit is great to see where creative minds work.
xx
Some noteworthy titles...and these desks are organized but chaotic...an empty desk has no mind!
ReplyDeleteRonda,
ReplyDeleteIndeed an "All the Best Home office" is imagined for one as seemingly efficient as you, I envision it elegant, ordered and filled with personalized touches from far flung places and secret admirers. This would make a wonderful book to see the desks and epicenters of your "All the Best List."
In this day, a home office is key and here to stay.

I love Charlotte's desk, I have all the thing I adore around me for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteRonda,
ReplyDeleteOn the same plane this past weekend...in such good company. Cleaning and organizing of my work space so I could further work on the goal setting and organizing needed to keep my business in a forward moving motion.
Yes, working from home the best, yet challenging, but like you wouldn't give it up for anything.
To gaining clarity and finding the best way to put our best foot forward, one baby step at a time.
As one who does not blog on a daily basis (or post), I love your thoughts. Taking time to prioritize, organize and yes, just enjoy the summer. Reading, which I have let go by the wayside after being in a book club group for years!
ReplyDeleteOrganizing my desk always seems to be the No. 1 on my to do list; also the one that gets shuffled tothe bottom. You are inspiring me. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have alot of pictures like this around my desk. Makes me want to expand closer to the floor. Just when I thought I was done.
ReplyDeleteRonda,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're giving yourself some "me time" by organizing. I love being organized and always welcome better ways to do something.
Keys to organization:
1. Clear the clutter and donate whatever you can.
2.Purge daily (purse, junk mail paper and email)
3.Do a "To Do" list each evening in a mind-dump (thoughts of what needs to be done)
4. Label files with the same name as you think(ex:client name is William but he goes by Bill. File name should be Bill with note aka William). Cuts down on mis-filing and lost items.
Get creative and have fun knowing you are in control of you destiny!
Working from home is not new it's just new to you make it exciting and when in doubt just blog it out!
We learn from one another and help each other. Great office space is great because "you" are there doing what you love. Great books lined up, take notes on what you like and will implement. A system only works, if you work it. All the Best to you!

I love See Jane Work and have blogged about them myself when I did a post on organizing. Love their stuff! I hope you'll let us know how those books are too - maybe a review post?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post Ronda, I admire your work to stay organized while writing so many lovely things for all of us to enjoy. Keep the great work and congrats on the new projects. Your reading list is impressive! I can't wait to see what is next!
ReplyDeleteSee Jane Work is one of my favorite websites. Unfortunately it hasn't helped the towers of books that accumulate on either side of my computer. I think my only hope of organization is a library AND an office! LOL! Thank you for posting these book titles and for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am always interested to see 'at home' work spaces. Often, work spaces for women are off the kitchen. For me, my main requirement would be a space that I could close off and hide the clutter as I don't tend to be the most organized person in my workspace.
ReplyDeleteWe renovated a basement room [old maid's quarters] into my office. It is sheer heaven working down here! Our workroom is directly off my office so I am always surrounded by colorful flower arrangements. I checked out the website and am going to take advantage of it. The books look fascinating-will order some from Amazon.
ReplyDeleteOh, Ronda, what a marvelous post! I so love seeing other home offices, and these two are spectacular...in part because there is such evidence of a creative spirit at work. They are just tidy enough, but overflowing with ideas and inspiration. Love love LOVE this! xx
ReplyDeleteHome offices are tricky to keep organized aren't they? I really love what you do with the place. You could also try putting in a book shelve or chest for the other stuff. This will create more space for you to work with.

Hi! Oh I love it when my desk is tidy, but giving it an extra personal touch is what I love most. I adore your post as I´m looking up different designs or styles for offices and desks. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteA great post- I find I move from one desk to the other though- I have accumulated 3- 2 in the actual office and one in the den. The See Jane Work is a blessing though- I have found a great line of notebooks M O binders and all the semicolon things are great. LA
