Happy Halloween

For the latest edition of The New Yorker, comic book artist Chris Ware has sketched a Halloween themed cover that shows Trick-or-Treaters chaperoned by their parents. It took me a moment to notice the ghostly glow of each mom and dad. Very clever!

  1. We all share some great moments like this and at some point we relive them again and again. Such a fun holiday each year with it's original impressions limited only by our imagination. Trick or Treat!

  2. Great cover. Wonderful memories of Halloween don't only include the costumes and the candy, but the sense of community...running from neighbor to neighbor, the eerie-beauty that autumn brings, and that distinctive smell of dried leaves, sugary candy and toasted pumpkin.

  5. Always a little sad on this day that my daughter is now grown! Holidays like this are always more fun when seen through your child's eyes.
    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

  6. If I'm not mistaken the ghostly glows of the parents are from the reflections of their iphones or blackberries... too funny!

  7. I saw this image of the New Yorker cover over at Head over heels... had to laugh. In my neighborhood as the trick or treaters went door to door, the iphones and blackberries were replaced by glasses of wine and a few bottles of beer. The watchful parents all looked chummy and it was a moving party. Soooo much nicer.
