Jan Showers: The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton

The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton in Dallas is a new luxury high-rise designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects. To ‘wow’ prospective buyers, The Ritz-Carlton employed world-class designers Jan Showers, Carleton Varney and Laura Hunt to create jaw-droppings spaces.

The 13th floor residence, a very spacious luxury home, has been transformed by Jan. Known for fashioning rooms that fuse different eras, she is a master at accessorizing. From vintage bar carts and 1970’s Gucci frames, to beautiful Murano glass chandeliers, Jan’s designs exemplify glamor.

While in Dallas I had an opportunity to view the space with Jan before it opened to the public. It was a beautiful, sunny late afternoon when I took the photos. Colorful glass and beautiful mirrors sparkled in every room.

Jan has graciously offered a personalized, signed copy of her book Glamorous Rooms to one All the Best reader. To be entered in the drawing, simply leave a comment telling me which type of accessories you collect or what you love most in the photos. Tomorrow I will have a profile on Jan.

I love it! I also saw the work she did for the brother/sister duo also in Dallas. Not sure if it was the same building though...

She's such a remarkable talent!

Sparkling glamour and restrained colors make me wish to climb into one of those beds for a nice nap.

Hi Ronda, thanks for the tour, how great for you to hear the wonderful stories. My two favorites in the photos are the fireplace and the wall covering in the corner. I enjoy collecting Egyptian art and combining it with simple Down East flavoring.

I have loved Jan Showers work for many years in design. Her spaces always have the right blend of contemporary luxury with-out being too over the top or stuffy. I have a few collections, One of which is sterling silver picture frames, i love taking very classic and modern and combining them on dark contemporary picture ledges (Which i fill with wonderfully sepia toned, black and white images of my family and friends, my second are wonderful coffee table books ranging from graphic, interior and architectural design, and quote books of famous phrases to leave open for my guests to read.

Hi Ronda -
I love how Jan frequently uses mirrored tables (side or coffee)- glamorous, but not too much.

What spoke to my heart first was the way the blue color of the double gourd lamps spoke to the bed pillow....my mind said, ahhh...very relaxing!

As I continued through the photos I noticed Jan's use of color interplay between objects, making one connect to another.

What a beautiful space!! I love the paintings in the Master Bedroom and the addition of the table lamp in the bathroom. I think that is a great touch that adds to the homey feel. I have a tendency to collect design books... I love to have stacks near me at all times!

I love the lucite legs on her benches! I have a thing for shiny lucite anyway, and tend to collect bar cart accessories in lucite or accessories for my desk. Can't get enough of them!

Thanks for the great photos, Ronda.

Jan Showers is such a talent. I love her color blocked pillows, they are like Josef Albers paintings.

Personally, I collect anything tortoiseshell (tea caddies, cigarette cases, picture frames). I love it all! Thank you for the giveaway, that book has been on my wish list!

Wow! Do I lov the emerald green tear drop shape glass decanter on the console table. As a collector of glass and crystal decanters, this piece just stole my heart.

I love the lamps (who doesn't?) and the block pillows. I am drawn to anything mother-of-pearl...boxes, picture frames, even flatware. Just lovely!
