Vintage Travel

I am packing up and leave for a six week trip to the States. My last project before leaving was to redecorate our son's room. His new love is fencing, and I found several great vintage fencing posters to complete the project. During my search I came a across a few vintage travel posters and luggage. One company that I am simply mad for is the Vintage Luggage Company, an Australian based business established in 2005 specializing in rare and vintage pieces from the Houses of Louis Vuitton, Goyard, Oshkosh and Hartmann.

Their site is a visual treat! Beautiful luggage artfully designed and expertly crafted by famous trunk makers of a bygone era. There once was a time when getting there was just as important as the wardrobe and luggage selected. I do wish a degree of travel decorum still existed.

I will post as often as possible, and I have a full lineup of profiles for you this summer. I will endeavour to catch up on all my email before leaving and you can follow me on Twitter as well!
All the Best,
Ronda

Amen to that! Travel of the past seems so romantic, and then today's terminals are all sweat suits and terrible attitudes.

Love your blog! xo

Fun posters! I love vintage luggage and steamer trunks. When I was little, my mother would always make sure that we were well dressed when traveling somewhere, especially on an airplane. It is something that has stuck with me, but I can't stand how sloppy, rushed, and discourteous travel is today. I wonder what might spark a return to travel decorum? Maybe a resurgence in beautiful luggage! :)

Have a wonderful trip!

Ooh, I love vintage anything-travel-related: luggage, posters, memorabilia...I was in Annecy, err long time ago, and picked up some vintage postcards. And in Aix-en-Provence as well, I got some vintage postcards from the local market. Too bad they're not poster size, but I should still consider framing them and hanging them in the bathroom or something!

Same here Camille. I have 3 sisters and my mother always bought us new "airplane clothes" - I know what you mean. And yes, and why is it that people are so discourteous?

I hope you have a wonderful, stress free trip. Seems to me, travel just keeps getting more difficult. We are always thrilled if we get through a trip with no glitches.

Ahhh, this has us remembering the gloves and hats and other 'proper travel clothes,' what a lovely post. And the vintage posters are divine, too fun.

May you enjoy a splendid trip Ronda!

I was fortunate enough to have flown on the Concorde, pregnant with my twin sons.
The flight attendants were so elegant and everyone was wearing attire as if they were dining at a four star **** resort!

Dear Ronda, The Cairo poster is exquisite and unusual. Precisely what one wants! (Or at least I do.)

Safe Travels Ronda.
And don't forget to wear a suit that doesn't wrinkle !!

I remember flying to Italy when we were kids, and my mother dressing me in the prettiest "airplane outfits."

I love Vintage travel posters. We had them at the last Art Gallery I was affiliated with....they can be quite valuable as well as very cool for media rooms, et.
