I have followed Gerrie's career for years, collecting every possible image of her work. So, you can only imagine my delight when we were invited to her shop on Saturday. Gerrie, a friend of Quinn and Michael, welcomed us with open arms. Despite suffering a cold, she was completely delightful and gracious. It was a true gift to hear Gerrie talk about her latest project and be given the chance to photograph her shop.
Still whirling from all of the weekend excitement, my joy was only elevated today after a long morning phone call with Gerrie and promises to meet again.
Often referred to as the Grande Dame of the "new" New Orleans, Gerrie masterfully mixes warm fruitwoods, airy antiques, contemporary art and stunning chandeliers. Whites, creams and ivories, with a punch of color from artwork, are hallmarks of her inimitable style. "Some people ask why I choose the same colors over and over again. The answer is simple, because they are timeless and they work." I absolutely agree. If you are in New Orleans, Bremermann Design on Magazine Street is not to be missed. It's one of the very best.

I am sooo jealous of you, I can't stand it!!!!!!!! A personal meeting with my idol???????
Aw, she had a cold? I hope she feels better now. Loved this so much, it brightened up my entire day. She's the best ever.
What a fabulous experience! I adore all of the chandeliers too... so gorgeous!
I love Gerrie Bremermann! Her Design store on Magazine Street is just stunning not to mention her work on interiors. Her artwork is unbelievable as well, the two women I work for, Ashley Longshore and Amanda Talley (Ashely's work is behind the picture of you and Gerry, which I am sure you know) and Amanda's is the pinky swirled one. Did you go into either of their studios? Hope you had a nice stay in New Orleans. Thanks for this amazing post!
I was just there in New Orleans too!!
I was opening up my cherished 2004 Southern Accents issue with Gerrie in it just last night...what a weird coincidence!!! Anyway, LOVE this lady and your post dearly!
Oh what pretty things...
I do not know her, but what a beautiful store!
L
Joni I too have been a fan for years!!! It was SUCH a thrill to meet her in person. I had to pinch myself. She was unable to attend the cocktail party on Saturday but is feeling better now. You would LOVE her!!
Southern Aspirations it really was a a fabulous experience! New Orleans is THE place for chandeliers!
Yes!! I did meet Amanda Talley! We were at her studio on Saturday and she was at the cocktail party Michael and Quinn hosted on Saturday. She is a doll!
How funny Sharon!! Gerrie is just wonderful!!!
What a treasure trove of delights! I go to New Orleans often and will have to stop by. Thank you for the information!
I love her work and what a shop! What I wouldn't give for one of those gorgeous chandeliers!!
Gerrie Bremermann is a goddess. I have admired her work since the 1980s and distinctly recall (I hope memory serves) a wonderful canopy bed, very modern and severe, made of Formica. White Formica. It was brilliant.
The Consummate Hostess you WILL have to stop by Gerrie's!
Oh Kelsey, the chandeliers are amazing!!!!!
An Aesthete's Lament she is certainly a Goddess and a gracious one a that! White Formica?? I need to see that...do you have the photo?
I love Gerrie Bremermann. She recently helped a friend of mine with her house in Nashville. Thanks for the eye candy.
Her shop is one of the prettiest I've ever been in. What a thrill to meet her in person!
I wonder why there has not been a book on Gerrie, with the amazing body of work that she must have? I still go look at Joni's post on her from time to time, as it seems to be the most comprehensive collection of images of Gerrie's work out there.
Great post, thoroughly enjoyed seeing the store!
Wonderful post! I, too, have followed her for years. I remember searching for the book the minute it came out after reading about it in Southern Accents. What a gorgeous shop and treat for you to have spent time with her!
Her shop, her taste, her eye, her design work--all amazing and inspirational. An antiques shop this gorgeous makes me feel as if I were in heaven. Thanks so much for this super post.
