We've had freezing fog in Scotland today, yes freezing fog! Before today I had no idea there were so many types of fog - ice fog, steam fog, coastal fog, hill fog, advection fog and radiation fog.
For those for are interested, freezing fog is composed of feathery ice crystals that are deposited on the windward side of vertical surfaces such as lamp-posts, fence-posts, trees and overhead wires (thanks BBC for our lesson today). My husband captured a few stunning photos in our back lane and garden this afternoon (of course I am biased). Enjoy!

Cold, but gorgeous pictures! Hope everything survives! And you! Cozy fire, hot toddy. Yummm!
When I lived in Angus, one of the most beautiful things was the ice fog. So eerie and mysterious and lovely.
So lovely.
It looks like Narnia.

Happy New Year ~ Rosemary.
Wow - these photos are gorgeous. Is freezing fog the same as "hoary fog"? It's beautiful - is it icy to drive on?
Thank you for sharing these pics. I am sending your blog post to a friend that is looking for a icey winter scene to blow up. Thank you.

How beautiful is this!!!

There is something about white. Don't know exactly other than it makes everything look like it was on purpose. The white hint of frost on everything just makes it look crisp and lovely.
beautiful winter pictures...
