Isle of Skye

For the 2007 holiday catalogue J. Crew went on location to the Isle of Skye. Skye is renowned for its spectacular scenery, vibrant culture and heritage, as well as its abundant wildlife. Skye is a popular summer destination, but the winter months on the Isle of Skye are quiet and beautiful with mild temperature and little snow.

If you are fortunate enough to find yourself in this remote area of Scotland, Three Chimneys, a tiny restaurant tucked into Skye's northwestern corner, is a must visit location.

What started as a modest eatery almost twenty years ago has evolved into a top culinary destination. Many celebrities have made the trek to sit in the secluded candlelit cottage and indulge in locally caught wild salmon, Skye oysters, and hot marmalade pudding. The cottage windows offer beautiful and dramatic sea views. On cold evenings a hot stove warms the tiny bar, perfect for cosy pre-dinner drinks or a wee dram.

Ohmygosh. I'm all about the Wellies, but I live in South Alabama and cannot justify them! Lucky for me, I have your blog to provide me with a good dose of these type things. : )

I visited Skye for a few days five years ago and I was stunned by it's beauty. I thought that if I ever decided I was sick of living a)in the city and b)in the States, I would move to Skye. It is pristine and fairy tale like and when I saw the JCrew catalog and website I was excited about the clothing, but also about the gorgeous photography!

my favorite photo from the fall catalog was the one with the guy in the second picture and a cow wearing one of the men's scarves... adorable. J.Crew does and amazing job of drawing customers in and making them want to LIVE a J.Crew lifestyle

Katrina Lynn I love the blue and red coats in the photo. The blue one is such a pretty shade!

::tgm:: having lived almost my entire life in Texas, I can sympathize!! It took moving to Scotland for me to own a pair ;-)

Leyre, you are right, J Crew did an excellent job with the photography! But as you know it is so much prettier in person!

Mackenna the cow wearing the scarves was adorable!! It's a Highland cow and over here the Scots pronounce it coo (sounds like who).

I love that J.Crew has been taking some fun road trips like Boston, Paris and now Scotland. The beautiful imagery definitely makes me want to buy cashmere!

Well, I almost ordered a pair from Neiman Marcus the other day, but hubby clowned on me, so I thought twice. I hate to buy something that will live in my closet. : (

I agree. J.Crew is turning into my new Travel + Leisure. I hope they come to Philadelphia or NYC next. Better yet, winter in London.
