We have a lovely master bedroom in our 100+ year old flat in Scotland. The best features of the room are high ceilings, ornate molding and large windows. That said, it's lacking pizazz. I'm just not sure where I want to go with the overall look. Solid walls, Chinoiserie paper, bold colors, muted tones, stripes, florals...
Below are some of my favorite bedrooms. Hopefully I can draw inspirational elements from these rooms and come up with a game plan. As always, ideas and suggestions are most welcome.

I think a dramatic wallpaper would be the easiest and cheapest fix...I love your reading lights, you don't want to lose them as you obviously read in bed...as I do.

I have a confession: I'm in love with your dog! I like the 3 image best - lots of books, great art, clean-lined bed and a desk beside the bed, which is my new must-have!
Hi - your room is so pretty and peaceful! a few ideas: the bed alcove - upholster with fabric and tufting the whole space between the closets (are they closets?). Or just paint it in a vibrant color - the alcove OR you could wallpaper that area alone. Paint the wood cabinets to go with what ever you do behind the bed. anyway, I would accent that alcove - it's the focal point of the room. Like paint the room all aqua including the closets then paint the alcove orange.
Lovely space, seems like it has a lot of nice light. How big is it and do you have a budget? If I had my absolutely choice in wall paper I would have an entire room in chinoisire by de gorney (look at their website and weep). However Sanderson in the UK has every designer wallpaper you can imagine and you can purchase it right from them!

I love all these bedrooms but the one in domino magazine with the designer guild fabric on the wall is my favorite . I love so much this fabric
