Markham Roberts

I am in love with the work of Markham Roberts, whose mentor was the legendary decorator Mark Hampton. Markham’s designs completely appeals to my visual sensibilities. I may be a traditionalist at heart, but I also adore rooms that are fun, chic and unfussy. Markham has an uncanny ability to inject color into a room without going to extremes, giving each room its own unique characteristics. His rooms come across as chic, beautiful, modern and exceedingly comfortable—simply the best.

Very classic and stylish. I have the top image saved in my I Love files courtesy of Jennifer at Peak of Chic. I love the diagonal stripe wallpaper - it actually inspired me to have some cushions made for Black & Spiro earlier this year which were a broad pink and white stripe which we made up on the diagonal just like that! I love the bottom image too!

Very nice work. I love the way that he uses simple tortoise shell blinds in the most elegant of rooms. It tones everything down and makes the antiques more important.

That’s a great point and observation Patricia!

I'm loving Markham Roberts now! Domino has a great article in the September issue where they follow him around for a day in the life of a decorator article. It's a really cute article.

This designer's work is amazing. Those diagonal stripes make such a dynamic statement without getting too crazy.

Thanks for introducing me to Markham Roberts, Ronda. I can definitely see the influence of Mark Hampton(who is one of my faves), but Markham puts his own fresh stamp on traditional style.

Brilliant Asylum I agree, the diagonal stripes are fantastic!

I agree Annechovie you can see the influence. Markham has certainly put his own unique twist on the look.
